I was never the sort of person who liked to make a big deal about the upcoming New Year with showy celebrations and fireworks. So tonight I've opted to stay home and watch movies with Toph and my family. My parents still make a big deal about the NY ball drop, and as they sit there watching the tv, waiting for the ball drop, I contemplate my past year and everything that I've experienced.

  • Early in the year, I was admitted to the ER and found out I had an arrhythmic heart (ie. heart flutters) that was complicated by low potassium in my system. Prescribed medication, and now I have to eat a banana every day at least. {ps. i hate bananas. blegh!}

  • Spent fun weekends with someone important.

  • Had a major and disastrous breakup.

  • Attended my first live music performance (The Protomen), and met 2 friends I'd talked to online for awhile. {was so nervous about meeting them, but it turned out great!}

  • Met (and started dating) an amazing guy who helps keep me positive and optimistic. Best thing of all: he's a total dork, like me, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the new year brings us.

  • Attended my second live music performance!! Can you guess which band? Haha.. It was The Protomen, again. This was definitely a memorable experience for me because K.I.L.R.O.Y came out into the audience, picked me up, and carried me for a bit. I tried to conceal my shock/excitement but I think I failed at it. :)

  • Started volunteer work. Fun, fun! I'd really like to start volunteering with an animal shelter too, but I worry that seeing dogs in sad states might be too depressing for me. {i love animals way too much..}

  • Dyed my hair red! I've never had my hair any other color besides dark brown and medium brown, so this was an interesting change. The red wasn't as bright as I had hoped for, because I used it over my natural dark brown hair, but it looked cool anyway. The final color sort of reminded me of a raspberry tootsie roll pop... but now it's pretty much fading out. I'll have to re-dye it soon.

  • Started work on managing my temper. I think I'm actually doing much better on this. It takes me a bit longer these days to get me to flip out over something. But, it's still a work in progress. {my friend likes to joke that this is due to the "latin fire" in me.. =_=}

  • Started journaling again. DAILY!

  • Firmly decided that I need to live in Austin after making a weekend trip there to see Jeph Jacques (of QC fame) at a signing. Making plans to hopefully move there within a year or two.

And I think that's it? It's so weird to see some of my memorable experiences in list-form, but it's nice to look at it and know that I've accomplished a few of my personal goals.

So with that said, here's my goodbye to 2010. It was a long road with a few bumps, but I learned a lot about myself and I can't wait to tackle 2011! :D

{ps. happy new year everyone! ♥ gamibot}
